S235JRG2 Material S235JRG2C+C Equivalent, Meaning

This steel name has been discarded and replaced by S235JR in EN 10025 22004. S235JRG2C+C, S235JRG2 Meaning “S” is short for Structural Steel; “235” refers to the minimum yield strength value (MPa) for the steel thickness ≤ 16mm; “JR” means the impact energy value 27 J at room temperature. “G2” is a subdivided quality grade.

Sep 01, 2011 · Be very careful with trying to fit an equivalent grade. You need to evaluate both chemical composition and mechanical properties and ultimate end use of the product. In some cases there is no "accepted" equivalent grade, you evaluate yourself and decide.

Structural Steel S235, S275, S355 Chemical Composition

May 11, 2012 · Generally speaking S235 will not be certified as S235J2 you would tend to see this grade certified in S235JR with a EN10204 2.2 certificate. This grade is not interchangeable with A333 GR 6 (pipe specification) or ASTM A36 (Sheet/plate & structural sections specification). The EN equivalent of ASTM A36 would be S275JR.

J indicates that it can take a hit with a maximum energy of 27 Joules, K 40 Joules and L 60 Joules. R means that the minimum temperature for that capacity is at room temperature (20°C), 0 means 0°C and 2 means 20°C.
